MARTY FRIEDMAN To Appear On Japan's 'Guitar Stories'

December 11, 2010

Former MEGADETH guitarist Marty Friedman will appear on the first episode of the brand new Japanese national TV program "Guitar Stories". The show has Friedman performing the title track to his new album, "Bad D.N.A.", and talking music, and arranging a segment of "Forbidden City" for 10 Japanese guitarists (chosen by lottery to attend the taping) to play. The unique show will feature a different artist each week.

"Guitar Stories" will air on January 15 at 6 p.m. on Channel 12 (BS).

In radio news, NHK's Kurofune will feature Friedman on December 27 at 8:15 p.m. He will talk about current events in Japan, play music from "Bad D.N.A.", reveals his favorite song of the year (as introduced in his current Nikkei Entertainment feature) and much more.
This week Marty will film the second stage of live auditions for the first debut release on his label, Gokukara Records. 20 entrants were selected from hundreds of videos submitted. NicoNico Douga will broadcast a portion of this week's filming.

Friedman's tenth solo album, "Bad D.N.A.", was released in Japan via Avex. The CD was produced by Marty and engineered by Steve Hardy and Shinnosuke Miyazawa (LADY GAGA, GUNS N' ROSES) this April/May at The Village in Los Angeles, California.

According to a posting on Friedman's web site, "Bad D.N.A." is "a natural progression, picking up where 'Loudspeaker' and 'Tokyo Jukebox' left off and adding its own twists and turns."

Friedman's new video, "Bad D.N.A.", can be viewed below. The clip was directed by Visual Trap, which has helmed all of the videos for DIR EN GREY.

Friedman's ninth solo album, "Tokyo Jukebox", was released in Europe on February 22, 2010 via Mascot Records. The CD features extensive liner notes (written by Friedman in the "story behind the song" format) which are exclusive to the European release.
